ABOUT US

Our History

            Ege University Microbiological Analysis Laboratory (EGEMİKAL), which was previously used as the "Stone Museum" of Dokuz Eylül University Geological Engineering, was established as a result of the restructuring of the building, which remained empty due to the transfer of the department to Tınaztepe Campus, with the support given by the Deanship of the Faculty of Science and our Rectorate. It was officially opened and put into operation in May 2011. The laboratory infrastructure has been created to meet EN ISO 17025 requirements.

               Our laboratory has adopted the principle of providing accurate and reliable analysis services that will support the protection of public health and food safety while ensuring that the production potential of our country is transformed into products with high added value at the international level. In addition, we have made it our mission to produce project-based solutions for manufacturers to problems encountered at all stages of production.

In addition, we have made it our mission to produce project-based solutions to the problems that manufacturers will encounter during the mentioned processes and thus to ensure that all stages of production are carried out with high quality awareness.

Our Goal

            To be an "ACcredited" organization that adopts the principle of using scientific thought and working methods, follows and uses the latest developments in the fields in which it produces services, produces services at the highest standards, and serves to increase the economic, social and environmental quality of life of the society. Being aware that the accreditation process is indispensable for the analyzes to be accepted on the international platform, our laboratory has started infrastructure and documentation studies for the requirements of the TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 General Conditions for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories standard.

Our Aims

-To carry out microbiological analyzes required by the sector in accordance with the TS EN – ISO/IEC 17025 General Conditions for Competence of Experiment and Calibration Laboratories standard

-To carry out the necessary microbiological analyzes for the reliability, hygiene and quality of food, all kinds of substances and materials that come into contact with food, and feed, using internationally accepted test methods.

-To carry out the necessary microbiological activity tests to determine the bactericidal, fungicidal and sporicidal activities of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in food, industry, domestic and industrial areas.

-To carry out microbiological analyzes of cosmetics, textiles, soil and environmental samples upon request.

-To support food producers in determining critical control points and ensuring food safety by performing hygiene control of food production environments and working personnel.

-To carry out research and development studies in line with the needs of the industry, to organize trainings, to be a solution partner by providing scientific support to public and/or private organizations.

-To achieve accurate, reliable and internationally accepted analysis results by carrying out activities such as validating test methods and determining measurement uncertainty.
